October is Mental Health Month — and if you ask me, we need way more than 31 days.
Here at Front Porch Nurse, I’m marking the month by focusing on something that deeply affects our mental health: the stress of health information.
Why Energy Is the Best Metric for Health
We love to measure health by weight, blood pressure, lab numbers… but here’s a radical thought: energy is one of the best metrics we have.
Energy shows up every single day.
Energy connects mind, body, and spirit.
Energy tells you if you’re truly coping with life — or just running on fumes.
When your energy is low, everything feels harder. When it’s steady, life feels possible again.
How Health Information Drains Energy
Ever find yourself:
Googling symptoms for hours and feeling worse afterward?
Reading one article that says coffee is dangerous and another that says it saves lives?
Getting advice that conflicts with your intuition, leaving you stuck?
That confusion is exhausting. It drains both time and energy — two resources midlife women don’t have to waste.
The Link Between Mental Health and Time
Here’s the kicker: wasting time on junk info is just as costly as wasting energy. If it takes you hours to figure out which advice to trust, that’s time you don’t get back. And wasted time = less space to rest, recover, or actually enjoy your life.
That’s why being efficient about finding trustworthy evidence matters so much for mental health. Less time wasted = more energy saved.
My Promise at Front Porch Nurse
When I share something, it’s because the research truly supports it. Not just one shiny headline — but years of consistent evidence. And if research is thin? I’ll be transparent.
Because clarity saves time. Trust saves energy. And both protect your mental health.
This Month at FPN
Throughout the month, I’ll share:
How to spot the difference between reliable research and clickbait.
Why “one big study” isn’t proof of anything.
And how clarity around health info gives you peace of mind and protects your energy.
Because protecting your mental health isn’t about doing more. It’s about saving time, protecting energy, and feeling confident in your own ability to care for yourself. 🧡
